ANique
(ANtiquities Visual Identity)
The antiquities visual identity competition needs to design three symbols that identify three kinds of antiquities: National Treasures, Significant Antiquities, and Ordinary Antiquities.
My design, "Anique", is the addition of animal and antique. The distinction between the three categories of antiquities is their importance and rareness. Therefore, I linked the concept with animals, which also has rareness difference with each other, so that people could easily connect the rareness of animals with the antiquities and identify them as the correct antique category.
Ordinary Antiquities
Symbol: Formosan Macaque
Formosan Macaque is the most common of the three animals. Although it is an endemic and protected species in Taiwan, it is common to see them in southern mountains, therefore representing the Ordinary Antiquities.
National Treasures
Symbol: Triceratops
Triceratops is extinct, therefore the rarest of three animals I chose to represent antiquities, just like the rarest National Treasures.
Significant Antiquities
Symbol: Formosan Black Bear
Formosan Black Bear is more common than Triceratops, but still one of the endemic and endangered species in Taiwan. Therefore, it represents Significant Antiquities.
